Thanks that is intresting I bought two similar items at the same time so will add acouple of extra pictures. I will take them in and have the metal checked. I was suspitiouse because the quality in the cutting of the metalwork looked poor but I guess this at least showes that it was hand crafted.

The mark seem to be in Chinese seal script and rather well done. Although I can't read it all but it may say silver at the end. In any case, you can have the metal checked to see if it is silver or not. I have seen these metallic additions on antiques before. It is hard to tell what kind of stone just by looking at a picture since there are so many kinds that simulate true Jadeite or nephrite.

If you have silver on true jade then this may be a valuable item from the Qing dynasty, otherwise it is a nice decorative piece. Hope this helps.

Hi, maybe someone else can help with this? I have no knowledge of jade or similar items.
