Pottery Vase(or should I say Storage Jar)
by: Jean Fitzpatrick

Dear Peter,
Thank you for your information. The size I stated should have been millimeters.
It's very interesting to find out about my wee jar.

Regards

pottery jar

Hi Jean,
This is a storage jar. It once had some kind of lid or cover. Sometimes they are covered with a cloth which is fastened at the neck
It doesn't quite look the size you mention in your earlier message:
>I have had this small vase (it stands approx 110 cm high

Because of the light and rough surface it is almost impossible to read the characters. Probably the name of the manufacturer. The third looks somewhat like Chun (spring) but not entirely sure either.
This should have a few decades age. Its rustic look makes it seem to be old, but I doubt it is antique. In the countryside many Chinese still use similar storage jars to keep preserved and other food items for an extended time.
