Old Chinese Ginger Jar

by BILAL

Hi Peter,
I bought this old ginger jar and a few other old items during a visit to Eastern China (Hotian) in 1988. This jar has a scroll (possibly sweet-pea) that appears to be delicate in brush strokes. It is slightly over 8 inches in height, has no mark at the bottom and shows spots in glaze which are a few on the outside but more inside the jar. The neck has age related discoloration while the bottom has brownish discoloration of the glaze. From its exterior and interior condition it seems that even though it is a household item, it has been very carefully used.
The original owner, who was not an antique dealer but a simple farmer, had said that it had been in his family for a long time.
Please give me your opinion as to its age, origin and any other info that can help me put this item in its proper perspective along with my other collection. Due to size of the images I cant upload them on this blog but I have some pictures uploaded on the following link: -
