help with one more bowl

by Ryan
(Thailand)

Hi Peter and everyone. I have one more bowl to show you. I am guessing it to be early Qing or late Ming perhaps. There are no markings.. just the design, bowl shape, colors etc. I am wondering if this bowl shape is characteristic of a certain time? I have another old beautiful bowl with this similar shape, but has different vine and flower markings. It also has no mark on the bottom. I hope to hear your thoughts on this one.

I am truly thankful for your help!

Thanks for the help. I bought this one for fairly cheap.. 600 baht or $18. It is in great shape and I kind of guessed it to be Ming. I have seen a lot of other shipwreck items and the glaze is eroded on them. This one I noted too that it was rather shiny. Thanks for the help.. (:

Ming bowl
by: peter

Yes, this should be a late Ming bowl, in my view. Not early Qing...
I cannot tell it exactly, not by the decoration, but from the foot rim, bottom and the glaze it should be late Ming, that is early 17th century. A good piece which is not from a shipwreck, apparently.
The foot rim shape and height can give some hints. But, apart from these yours has clear age signs pointing to the period.
