by Stuart Goodman
(Oroville,calif.)

hello, I just got this cool chinese bowl and i need help identifiying it.
I would like to know who made it, how old it is and how much its worth.
It's in really nice shape no chips or cracks, it does have some rust spots on the inside.

Thanks, much

Hello,
As there are no closeup pictures, there remain some questions.
1. Is this handpainted or printed? A closeup of the decoration should show it. You can look at it with a magnifier. Usually, with handpainted items the single brush strokes are visible. If it is transfer printed, it is likely Japanese.
2. There are no traditional Chinese decoration elements. It could be Japanese or a modern Chinese product.
3. The bottom does not look right for Chinese porcelain.
4. The type of mark and the fact that it is off-center makes it probable that it is Japanese.

All of the above means it is either Japanese or modern Chinese imitating some Japanese elements, but it is not antique, probably.
