not authentic mark
by: James

Hi Cynthia,

From the mark alone it looks to be a later copy because I never see Shunzhi marks on porcelain. My quick check on Sotheby's and Christie's websites only came up with one Shunzhi mark, 6 blue characters within a double circle. The style of writing is too perfect also for that early of Qing period, could be stamped.

Thanks!!!

I appreciate your help. This is a large teapot however I purchased another one that is twice the size. I will post pictures of that one as well. I assume that one is also a reproduction but both are very pretty and suitable for display. Hopefully someone on ebay will be interested in them. Thanks again!!

pot
by: peter

I agree with Tim that the crackles are not natural, but were created artificially. The item is possibly 20th century.
A magnificent pot, nonetheless. I believe this is the largest Chinese porcelain pot I ever saw.

Apocryphal Shunzhi Mark
by: Tim

Looks like porcelain teapot with intended crackled glaze. Possibly 1950s to 1960s.
