Chinese Vase

I am trying to find out a bit more about a Chinese vase I have. I have attached two photos - one of the vase and one of the mark on the bottom. It stands about 9" high. I would be grateful for any information about it. Thanks very much.

Not sure if this is Chinese at all. The shape looks more Japanese, and apart from the decoration band along the shoulder nothing hints to Chinese. The mark could be both Chinese or Japanese.
Whichever it is, the decoration is modern, nothing traditional.
