Chinese vase

Any idea the age of this vase? It is heavy and measures 6 1/2 inches tall and 23" around at the fattest point.

This could be recent. Just adding ancient characters as decoration does not necessarily make it recent. Generally said, it is highly unlikely to find such writing on pottery from ancient times. The clay is much denser than antique pottery, and the color decoration at the top and outside also looks like a modern product.
My personal view.
