chinese tea pot

by patrick shimell

Hello, could you please give me an idea of when this tea pot was made. I got it on a flea market, I find it so pretty, though I would not say it is of superbe quality. (colour missing at the base, spots of colour where they should not be, does not pour very well...).In fact I am intrigned The handles are missing and the inside looks as new. If the handles had worn out then one would expect the inside to be stained. So maybe it came without the handles and there for was never used. The lid is quite sophisticated, it will not fall off when at allmost 90°.

tea pot

This is porcelain from the second half of the 20th century. Similar items are still being made, I believe.
The mark says "Jiangxi Jingdezhen Mingci"; an item with this mark might be vintage at the most. The handles of teapots are often missing. As far as I know many items from this period didn't use wrought iron handles anymore, but rather very thick wire.
