Chinese or Japanese need help

Have a small vase about 6 inches tall wide bottom long neck, is is Chinese or Japanes, what is the time period. Thank you

This is not a traditional Chinese vase. The mark is a bit too small, but the two characters could point to a Japanese kiln. However, the writing is simplified in a manner that it is difficult to tell if this is just normal handwriting, or if someone not able to write Far Eastern characters tried copying such.
