From these pictures it could be old, but the pictures are too small to see anything clearly. The blackened back does not necessarily mean it is old. This is sometimes made intentionally to give items the appearance that they are antique.

I have never seen such a shape, by the way. Apparently it imitates a western picture or mirror frame with a Chinese phoenix picture.

Are you sure it is Chinese and not European or Japanese porcelain imitating a Chinese motif (chinoiserie)? The frame definitely doesn't look Chinese at all.
The little spheres along the inside of the "frame" look similar to those I often see on furniture in the Far East, from the early 20th century.
