China with Peaches
by: Barbara

Thanks guys, your comments are interesting because after I sent the pictures I examined more pieces and there is quite a bit of variation. The pic I sent are of pieces that are quite "crisp" in their design while other pieces are softer. And there a few pieces that are not as heavy and more white in background rather the green in the pictured pieces. It is as if some one was trying to complete the set. My Grandfather served with the Marine Corps in China in 1927 and 1935-37. I have lots of lovely pieces that I'll ask your help with, now that I have found your terrific site.
Thank you,
Barbara

reproduction
by: James

The seal marks says Guangxu officially made, which is not typical of the period. The plate decoration is not typically seen either. The peaches decoration on the outside of the bowl is a better imitation. Overall this indicates a reproduction so the value is low. If these truly were made before 1920 then they are somewhat antique and I guess could worth more.

peaches decoration
by: peter

Hello,
Of the two marks, the right one could be a republic period mark (first or second quarter of 20th century)als. The left one, although with the same content, is written in quite different characters, indicating that they were written by a different person, possibly much later. The character simplification could also mean that it is from the 50s or later. Apparently, these items are not from the same period.

I can't tell you much about this other than that the peaches decoration is a heavily copied and faked decoration.
This warrants an inspection by someone who has experience witht his sort of item.
As for online valuations, you could try valuemystuff.com, for example.
