Can anyone tell me if this jar is Japanese or Chinese please?

I just love this jar especially the child in the lion costume on the lid.

It has many bubbles in the glaze and has age marks but I do not know how old it may be can you help?

It has an impressed mark on the base that I covered in lipstick so that you could see it more clearly.

I have been unable to find out if it is Chinese or another language can you help?
