Brown bowl with sandy grit on base

by Linda
(California)

Hello,
Interested to know what to call this bowl, what era, color? I think it is a monochrome? Is this what is called rabbit fur technique? for the color. I think it is old because of the sand stuck on the bottom from what I have read on this site Swatow? ware. Any value? Should I have appraised or back in the garage box? Thanks

Here again, with this bowl it is either vintage (at the most) or not Chinese. This is likely 20th century. This is of the type you still might encounter in the countryside, in use. I mean this is one of the simpler bowls used by the average people. Any grit adhering is due to the kiln firing method and kiln environment. The type of foot rim makes it unlikely to be a Chinese antique.
