rice grain bowl and saucer
by: peter

Hi again,
With rice grain porcelain it is sometimes difficult to tell if something is antique, vintage or new. This type of porcelain is still made and the difference between an antique and a new item is sometimes only a minor part of the decoration.
It is not possible to globally say these are antique or modern, etc. The rice grain pattern has been made for at least 200 years, in different variations.

I have never seen this decoration type, but with this one I would think it possible that it is antique, or at least vintage.

If you can upload better pictures, it might be possible to see more. What would be needed is pictures of bottom, foot rim and the decoration in the center medallion. Minute details on the bottom or foot rim should be visible. The pictures should be made in daylight to avoid the yellow color as in these photographs.
Also, is there a mark?
