Large Chinese Fish Bowl

by Chris
(San Francisco)

My grandfather bought this fish bowl back in the 80s at an auction. I initially thought it was a planter, but someone said it was a fishbowl. Curious if anyone can give any more info on it,as to possibly ID the piece. The fish bowl measures about 18 inches high, and 21 inches diameter from the top. There are 4 different fantastical creatures on opposing sides. Thanks!

Hi Chris,
The painting style, color combination, etc. makes it look like something of the second half of the 20th century.

Please disregard the color of the bottom. This sort of smearing is often found on porcelain items and it is not a sign of age. Often it was made that way intentionally to make it look antique.
I also feel that the ears and other details of the creature shown in the picture is different from the way these are usually painted on antiques of the Qing dynasty.
If this was bought in the 80s then it can't have been very old by then.
My view is that this was made in the 20th century.
