Jar with lid

identifying mark

identifying mark

Can anyone help me to identify this jar with a lid? It was given to my Great Great Aunt near a century ago. It is in excellent condition. picture is different on front and back. The oriental figures near a body of water. Jar is probably glazed pottery with brick red, deep blue, green, deep yellow, tan, cream, soft blue and pink, white and gold glazes. Design is textured.

characters

Erique,
I speak and read Japanese, but I cannot make head and tail of these "characters". Unless it is a sort of illegible signature, I can't see what characters they are. It is true, the second and third have some resemblance, but even the ugliest handwriting doesn't look this way, unrecognizable. It could as will be Thai or something similar.

Hello,
Please upload more pictures. With only a partial bottom image it is impossible to tell what it could be. Additional pictures can be uploaded with a new submission.
