Chinese Vase (set of two)

by Nick Skippings
(Edmonton Alberta Canada)

I have been unable to find information for these identical vases. Each vase is approximately 9 inches tall with a girth of 17 inches tapering to a 3.25 inch diameter base. The finish is a crackle glaze. Each vase depicts three different characters. The characters and background is raised from the surface. See attached pictures and markings.

Japanese vase
by: peter

Hi Nick,
This seems to be a Japanese vase.
The figure to the extreme left in the pictures looks like Bodhidharma, but I don't know whom the others depict.
I cannot help much with Japanese porcelain, but it looks like Satsuma porcelain to me.
