Condition of Kangxi Chargers by: BBojorquez
Hi Peter, Thanks for the information on my Chargers. They are both in perfect condition, no cracks, chips or repaires. Also they have the copper coloring around the inside center but all the other is gilt, blue and white. What kind of value could be placed on these?? Thanks, BB

value of plates by: peter
The value depends much on where and how you would sell. It is easier to judge with Ebay, but not necessarily the best value.
If you allow me to send you an email, I will send you the web address of a low-cost valuation service I have been using. Very affordable.
When researching price it should also be taken into consideration if a pair gets a better price. I am not sure if that is the case, internationally. I only know that the Chinese always want things in pairs, if possible, and they often pay better (higher per plate price) if it is a pair. Not sure about the western market in this respect.

Additional information on Chinese Import by: BBojorquez
Thanks Peter for your comments on these two chargers. They are quite beautiful. There is some rust like red around the edge of the inside of the chargers but no bright red at all. The gold accents are throughout them.

Chinese export plates - Imari by: peter
Hello, Judging from these pictures your chargers seem to be Imari plates from the Kangxi reign (1662-1722). The mark on the back is also a Kangxi period pictorial mark. Notable is the absence of red color. I can't tell from these pictures if there is none at all or only very little, due to the light reflection. Imari plates usually have decorations in the colors blue, red and gilt. Yours appears to be blue and gilt, a decoration that is less common among those I have seen. Are they without cracks or repairs? Very nice to have two of such large chargers.
