Chinese Blue and white ginger jar

by Elizabeth
(Winchester, VA)

Thanks for your expertise in advance.

My grandma bought this jar about two years ago from an estate auction and then gave it to me. I couldn't figure out how to take a good picture of the stamp at the bottom because of the glare.

It has some rust spots and some other age problems.

Can you tell me what you think?

Hello,
This item is probably from the second half of the 20th century. The image of the bottom is too small to read the mark, but it could be a certain company mark from southern China. This is a guess based on the side decoration painting style.
We can check if you upload a larger image of the mark.
The lid and shape of the jar's mouth also indicates the later 20th century.
Antique Chinese jars always had a vertical upturned rim, never a recess for this type of lid.
