tea set

Hello Michael,

Yes, I'm afraid this is modern.
1. The marks are too small, but I can distinguish the characters on the left side of the marks, which shows they are reign marks. Nothing old, however.
2. The shape of the pot and cups are modern, antique cups are mostly round, sometimes octagonal, etc.
3. The decoration on the tray looks nice, but the leaf decoration on the cup would be substandard in ancient China, I would think. The leaves could be an imitation of banana leaves, frequently used in antique Chinese porcelain, but they don't look like the real banana leaves.

I wouldn't call these items fakes, but just recent. The decoration is really too much deviating from the ancient decoration style that a collector would be fooled. I don't think this the creator tried to make the set look old.

Sorry for being unable to tell you something better.
