Horse figurine I found at a yard sale

by Peggy
(Mountain City TN)

I found this amazing horse figurine at a yard sale it has a stamp on the bottom and it just is very neat and it looks so old. If anyone can tell me anything about it I would be greatly appreciative.

The legs look copied from a Tang Dynasty style of camel! Your piece may have been painted rather than glazed.

This was probably made as decoration only, or perhaps for the tourists, in recent times. The real Tang Sancai would not have been marked at the base.
The real ones were mainly used for funeral ware (put in the tomb with the deceased). Such horses excavated from tombs would either have most glaze intact, or it was leached all over by the water and soil. This one looks as if the glaze has fallen off from handling.
