Where did you buy this?
Not Chinese, Japanese, or Korean in my view. The headwear looks more like something aboriginal or SE Asian. If the wood is not colored, very heavy and dense, with no visible grain, it could be SE Asian ebony.
The features of the man are reminding me of some SE Asian people, but, from one single picture this is all guess.
Maybe someone else knows more about this...
