Two oriental vases

by Ian
(Chester)

Pair of tall vases

Pair of tall vases

Pair of tall vases Smaller single vase

Hi there,

My grandma has sent me a picture of the marks on some oriental vases she has and I'm trying to translate them.

The first is from the bottom of a pair of tall vases which have an elaborate design and a 'pie crust' rim at the top.

The second is from a yellowy coloured smaller vase with a black bamboo design.

Any help with the marks would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian

Japanese marks
by: peter

These are Japanese marks.
The red one says "Made by Hichozan Shinpo".
The blue says "Made by Yasuda, ? Kyo, Japan". Not sure which character the one third one is, but looks like the character for "west".
