sweet covered bowl

by Ryan
(Thailand)

Hi Peter. I came upon this covered bowl.. if that is what it's called. It stands out to me as genuine although your opinion would be helpful. I have no idea what age it would be..
The bottom is blank white with no mark. There is a red painted mark on one lip of the top, another is on the bottom and also where the bowl and top meet, although the 2 marks are different and I am not even sure if they are marks, or signatures? Could you please help with this one?

Thanks again..

Ryan

porcelain food box
by: Ryan

Ah yes, I see now. I have seen many newer food boxes around. This bottom box actually does have matching windows with the bird and flowers. I just never took that photo. Too bad the other boxes are missing. Yes, I noted that it was quite finely painted. This is the first piece I have seen around here with that sort of beauty and detail. There are other colorful items around but usually it only takes a second to see that they are fakes or something modern.
Thanks for the input!!

stacked porcelain box
by: peter

Hi Ryan,

This is the remainder of a stacked porcelain box, or perhaps two. I have also one here with two colors, but I believe they were put together after the rest of it got lost or broken.
I see that the blue lid is very finely painted, with nice details to the bats and flowers.
Usually, these come in pieces of four, plus the lid.

Cannot tell you from when this is, except that it is 19th century. The blue lid could be older than the yellow box. Usually, the boxes also have small windows if the lid has them.
