Red Flower Vase
by: peter

Can you upload more pictures? You may have to make a new submission for each. Just use a title that makes it clear that they belong to the same item.

What would be of interest is a picture of the bottom, and a close-up picture or two of the outside, the decoration, etc.
I mean, these should be high-resolution pictures allowing to view minute details.

You mention that the gilt can be rubbed off. Usually, gilt is on-glaze decoration and is easily worn, but rubbing off like that sounds as if the vase has not been fired at all, after the decoration was painted. That would be a bit strange.

more detail
by: Dave

The Red has more of an Egg shell finish, the rest is a very shiny enamel coating. The gold on the wings seems almost metallic as it has a shiny red hue in parts. also on some areas there is gold paint which is newer than the rest. if you rub it with a damp cloth it will come off revealing the original paint underneath. My girlfriend also purchased it on the street in Guangzhou. Now she is not from Guangzhou but she isn't a tourist either. She is from China (Sichuan) and speaks Mandarin and Cantonese. Any other details would be great thanks.

red vase with flower decoration
by: peter

Hello,
You seem to be describing an enamelled flower decoration. I wonder if the red area has a scratch decoration of small spirals all over. That could provide it some hand-crafted value. The vase looks beautiful, but the type of the decoration, especially around the neck, as well as the tone of the red color would rather point to a modern piece.
The Qianlong mark is found also on many new items.

Thank you for posting.
