Query Japanese or Chinese mark?

by jrmorice

Hi Peter
Thank you so much for your previous advice. It is much appreciated. I have had this little bowl in my collection for around 35 years that I am unsure about. Just had it in there with all of my Japanese collection, however, since discovering your wonderful site am now looking at things that could perhaps be Chinese. Could you please advise whether this is a Chinese or a Japanese mark? If it is Chinese, then I will persevere with some other photos to get further identification and information. Thanks, Chelsea

Thank you Peter. Have looked it up and have been able to identify. Apart from having a split in it that obviously occurred in the firing, it is in perfect condition. I imagine the split is why the glaze remains almost as new and unused. Thanks

Hi, please look at http://www.chinese-antique-porcelain.com/chinese-export-porcelain.html
Your mark is the first one mentioned in the list regarding export to Japan.
