Hi Peter! In your image Gallery I've seen qianlong_antique-dish-4, was all decoration of the dish have done in China or guilding added later. Is it export dish? Thank you.


Yes, it is export porcelain. Does the decoration seem to be rather European?

There is a Chinese painting methods that apparently use tools with a hard tip (possibly bamboo) instead of brush bristles, for making small dots. I assume that this method was used here, at least in part.

I could may be recognized blue and white export porcelain only by the shape of the plates and gilding on them. Recently I've hold in my hands real Kangxi B&W bowl and I thought it is brand new because I've never seen before the real thing. And the pattern look's like it was transferring not hand painted, but I was wrong. It was a real Kangxi and it's very impressive!
I've got an export B&W plate, I'll give the image later.
