Have always wondered about this item have had for about 20 years and was hoping you could identify it,the hole in it was the way I got it. thank you,Robert.

Usually, we cannot help with metal objects, but the mark says it all.
The mark says this is a souvenir in memory of the opening of the "Songshan Line" in the Showa year (possibly year 2, character not clear) which would be 1927.
The Songshan Line is in Taipei. Taiwan was Japanese at the time, hence the Showa era year.

It does not say railway or bus. There is also a Songshan Line (bus line), but it seems to have opened in 1940. The Chinese source on the web seems to indicate that what is mentioned was a railway line.
