Old Bowl? No Marks

Hi I bought this bowl (vase, urn?) a few years ago. Even with the damage, it was appealing. If anyone can tell me anything about it, I would sure appreciate it. There are no markings that I can see. The bowl has a raised design all around the outside. It seems to have a thin brown glaze on it. The clay itself seems very porous.
