old blue and white ginger jar(?)/ vase(?)

by Michael

From before.....I have pictures of this vase that belonged to my great grandmother and do not know much beyond that. 3 out of 4 of the marks at the bottom seem to be from the early 1900's. Any assistance in finding more of its history and value would be greatly appreciated!

I have new pictures to add. Peter recommended better light and closer of some of the people.

Thank you!

Fangge Ginger Jar
by: peter

Hi Michael,
What better pictures can do !!!
This looks like a Qing dynasty ginger jar with typical crackles and brown band decoration. I am hesitating to attribute this to to the late Qing dynasty, as some elements in the decoration seem to hint to an earlier period than usual. Not sure.

Very nice and carefully executed decoration. With that number of people shown in detail, the jar might be higher rated than the usual Fangge jars I have seen.
I'm not sure what it depicts, but it looks like a scene in court with a magistrate, etc.

To obtain a valuation you could try valuemystuff.com. They are very affordable, I've been using them myself.

Very nice jar!
