japanese antique boxes with mirror and doves

I have recently bought a box or chest and I would love to know more about it. It is red ,a wood red, and has many signs in metal it has a couple doves on it and a sign that has appeared on one of the boxes I have seen,could it be a last name? I was also wondering why it has a mirror that is carved that can stand up. Is it a jewerly box?
