Is this a tea set?

by Dave
(Spring Hill Fl.)

Hi Peter
I just received this 3 pcs set, and I am not really sure if it is a tea set, and where if would have come from. It looks as if it was just made. It is small, the cup is 3 3/4 high by 3 1/2 wide and the insert fits into it. The bowl is 1 3/4 high by 3 3/4 wide.

As always Thank you for any input you may have.
Dave

The two characters are the mark. These are Chinese characters. As with Japanese, names in Korean can be written in Chinese characters. I cannot tell you how it reads in Korean, though, as I can read the characters but do not know how they are pronounced in Korean.

Thanks

Thank you for the info, I have not been able to find anything with the same parts as thay have. I am wondering if it was a part of a custom set not made for export. I don't see any made in marks, or any other marks of any kind. Do you have any idea as to the 2 marks on the bottom?

Hi Dave,

I'm not sure what this is either. It seems to be new, and it does not look Chinese. The part with the holes is inserted in the left jar, to soak something,I assume.

From the name marked on the bottom this is either Japanese or rather Korean. There is a Korean kiln with that name. That is all I can tell you.

You could try to find out if Korean tea wares do have such shapes.
