by Linda M
(canada)

My father always told me these were very old chinese vases but I know nothing about them. I have a pair of them. About 14-16 inches tall. i think its a bird of paradise on them. very colorful. Any info would be appreciated.

Interesting. As a novice i would like a little more info. How old is it? What is it worth , that kind of thing.

A: You can research some online. The genuine antique wares were made between the 1850s and 1930.
We don't talk about value here, as it is relative to many factors. (See "Value of Antiques" on the left)

Although there is only one partial picture, it is relatively easy to identify. What you have is apparently a Peranakan porcelain vase.

The bird is a phoenix and the flower is a peony. These are the two most typical decorations of that type of porcelain.
