INFORMATION NEEDED TO IDENTIFY POSSIBLE AGE OF VASE
by Andrew
Hi Peter, I purchased this vase quite recently & wondered whether you could tell from the photos if it might be of Kangxi manufacture or a later copy.
The peachbloom willow leaf vase has a cut down neck, done long ago, & measures 120 mm.s tall. There is a six character Kangxi mark neatly pencilled in underglaze blue on the high recessed base.
Seems to bear all the hallmarks of great age,but I cannot tell the difference between a 600 year old vase & a 200 year old one! Hope you can help with this one. Cheers, Andrew.

INFORMATION NEEDED TO IDENTIFY POSSIBLE AGE OF VASE
Hi Peter, Thanks for your valuable input. I have problems selling pieces like these, because two of the major auction houses in the world are not interested..."piece is not suitable". this can lead people to believe that what they might have is worh very little! I have seen images of old Chinese vases that have had silver, ivory or even carved wood applied to the damaged necks & this has been quite acceptable practice, might do the same. thanks again Peter.

Hi Andrew, As I previously mentioned, the age of monochrome vases is more difficult to evaluate. However, I found pictures of a very similar looking vase that is given as Kangxi. I cannot see any reason why yours should not be of the period. Very nice piece despite the cut off neck.
