IMAGES OF FAMILLE ROSE MILLE FLEUR PORCELAIN VASE

by Andrew

PART 1
Hi Peter,
I have added 4 images of the vase with the early iron red on glaze, pencilled seal mark, suspected to be of an earlier version of the traditional accepted form of Qianlong seal mark.
The porcelain is translucent, slightly thicker than eggshell but I think well weighted for the vase size of 27cm.s tall x 15.5 cm.s wide.
The pure white porcelain appears virtually fault free, technically perfect, with extremely careful & painstaking detail in the painting, leaving the miniscule background spaces filled in with a delicate, matt, pinky gold shade .
The floral enamels are thick & raised with an all over bright glossy lustre.
The iron red banding near top & bottom have faded pencilled greek key over painting.
The vase has some chipping to the base rim & an earlier repair to some unfortunate breakage to the neck area on the opposite side.
The first image is of the interior taken outside in overcast weather.
Will add some more images in part 2.

FAMILLE ROSE MILLE FLEURS VASE

by Andrew

Hi Peter,
I've seen eggshell porcelain, but the vase is much thicker, being about 2.5 mm.s at rim edge, & thicker down in the walls.
The vase looks thinner, more so, I think, because of the porcelains translucency.

Posted more images, including macro of double pattern banding at shoulder.
First image shows view around shoulder of vase, next the bottom sides & lastly a macro of the thickness of the painted enamels.
regards,Andrew
