Identifying Oriental Cups??

by Jodie
(UK)

Hi Peter,
I have nine of these but 4 are slightly damaged so I have taken pictures of the best. I am unsure what they are used for or if they are modern or old. I wondered if the painting on them was transfer print but although the pattern is relatively the same there are differences on each one and the painting on some is quite poor. They are around 2/2.5 inches tall around the size of egg cups. The glaze on them isn't bright which made me think there may be some age too them. There are also no marks to the base.
Any info would be greatly appreciated..
Regards

Jodie

Yes! I think Peter is right! It looks like Japanese one.If Chinese one on blue n white early aged, always has a seal, so its hard to say how old it is. Because I'm Chinese Learner.

Hi Jodie,
Yes, they are transfer printed. They seem to be Japanese. The foot shows that they are likely old, but I cannot tell you how old, I'm afraid. Japan used transfer printing much earlier than the Chinese.
Maybe someone else can comment on their age.
