Help Identifying A Vase

by Christina
(Ireland)

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me to identify a vase?

The vase has been in my family home for many years and I don't know how we acquired it.I don't know what period its from and would really like some more information on its origin and possible worth.

Thank you,

Christina

You do not state size, but your pitcher could be a creamer from a tea set if up to around 10 cm. height, or if twice that or more it could be part of a pitcher and ceramic mugs (or tumblers) set for water or lemonade. The latter sort of sets were most popular in USA in 1930s-1950s. The pitcher would not have been sold as an individual piece.

Peter is quite right this is not a Chinese shape, even though the 4-character fake reign mark is not all that bad a copy in a non-Chinese manner.

With all the decorative 'noise' around the impression of 'Blue Willow' pattern, it has to be European, my guess is 1960s or so. Might have had sticker saying place of origin, or factory identification might just have been on the carton the set was packed in. This really does not look English, very hard to say where actually made. Have seen strange knock-offs of almost Chinese-style items that were made in Romania.

This looks like an European copy of the willow pattern, with a Chinese stamped mark to make it look Chinese.
This shape... not at all Chinese. Definitely not a Chinese antique.
