japanese bowl

Follow-up:
I just encountered a phoenix plate with a similar decoration as your bowl. There was a Japanese mark on the bottom which would probably confirm its Japanese origin.

To make sure whether the bowl could be Chinese and/or antique, close-sup pictures as well as photos of the bottom and inside would be required (with good resolution).

The bowls and fish-shaped dishes look so different that it is unlikely that they belong together as a set.

Fish dish set

Hello Denise,

The bowls look oriental but probably are not Chinese, but the fish could be from anywhere.
Anyway, my guess is that it could be Japanese, but possibly modern.
I would try asianart.com. Their forum is frequented by some people with knowledge of Japanese ceramics and art.
