Hello Peter. My father brought this piece back from Peking city in 1935.He was a U.S. Marine stationed at the U.S. Embassy there.
Any info on this piece will be greatly appreciated, particularly if it is 19TH or 20TH century. Thank You Ronnie.

Hi Ronnie,

This could have been new when your father bought it. In my view this is about second quarter of 20th century.
I cannot read the mark, but the style of this impressed mark is typical for figurines of the republic period, as are the traces of cloth on the bottom. The colors used (especially the red), point to the 20th century too. It does not look like those made later in the 20th century, either, so the second quarter should be fairly accurate.
The figurine depicts a Chinese deity, either the God of Wealth or God of the Land. Their are many variations of these and sometimes the two are difficult to keep apart. Both may hold a Ruyi scepter.
