Colbalt Blue Tea Set with Gilded Square Marking EO? ED?

by Pamela
(Bucks County PA)

I purchased this set at an estate sale over a decade ago, and they have been in storage ever since. I never even looked beyond the teapot as the family just wanted to finish up, so gave the box to me practically for nothing as I just loved the cobalt blue color. The other pieces that are a part of this set were wrapped in 1972 newspaper. All interiors and bottoms are off white, the outside of everything is cobalt blue with raised paint on the flowers which are a red/orange and white color. They are all gilded in gold and have mild crackling that you can see on the white, so i'm thinking they are a little older. I haven't been able to find this marking anywhere, though I thought the pattern would at least be more common. Can't find that either. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for trying to help me with this...

I'm afraid I cannot help you much with this as it is Japanese. I do not know the mark. This was probably fairly new in the 70s.
You cannot rely on crackling for determining age. The one shown on the bottom looks as if it were artificially created crackling.
