Coffee/Teapot questions

by Amy G.
(Charlotte, NC )

Peter,

First off, I would like to say I greatly enjoy your website. I actually have the opportunity to post on it although I do not believe this is an antique it appears to be at least 40 years old.

I collect tea cups and teapots, mostly because my mother did it, and I have a great appreciation. This has the "Made in China" stamp with the same written in Chinese.

Both sides of the teapot have the same image...but highly variable since the hands are different and small details.

What I was curious about however, are the Chinese symbols on the spout. I have never seen that before and wondered if you could tell me the significance? I thought at first it might be a saying or message, but then I thought it could be a signature. I found it odd the placement, since my Aunt whom is Chinese told me that facing the spout toward someone is basically rude.

Anyway, just would like some details as far as when it was made and what the characters on the spout are about.

Thank you so much,
Amy
