Hi Peter,
I took some close ups pix with my home camera. the porcelain is not dull. the flash doesn't help to catch the brightness of the porcelain.it is handpainted and feel very smooth to the hand.the yellow layer,I believe is what ever they used in the old days to stick it back together and this is what is making a thin yellowish layer with the time.I think if I take a smooth scraper I could remove it. should I?Thank you for your kind comments.Mona

Hi Mona,
Some closeup details of the blue and white decoration and bottom would be required.

From these pictures it looks as if the glaze is very dull. This is often a sign of a fake. Is it handpainted? And, what is that yellowish stuff in the blue decoration? This needs also be visible clearly.

Yes, ceramic items have still some value after repair. But, it depends also on the quality of the restoration, I suppose. Some professional restorers can make repairs virtually invisible.
