Japanese Satsuma bowl.

Its is most definitely japanese. Probably made early 20th century.

Hello Suzanne,
This bowl is certainly not a Chinese antique. It could be Japanese, but I don't really know much about Japanese ceramics.
I could try to read the mark if it were clear. If you want me to you can upload an image with good resolution.
I recommend you to try asianart com to obtain information on your bowl. Some of their forum members have deeper knowledge of Japanese ceramics.
