Vase Vase Plate Bowl

Hi Peter! I hope you are having great vacation! But could you glance on some items? I think there are fascinating! It's petty they were broken and badly restored. I still like them so much! I would like to know what represent the figures on the vase and plates. All items looks very old to me.

Regards
Irene

Thank you Peter! Yes I was wondering about the crown on the boy? probably? It's very difficult to find out about the patterns on Chinese ceramics, especially if the peoples scenes on it.

Irene

famille rose porcelain
by: peter

Hello Irina,
From the decoration and quality it seems to be a late Qing dynasty decoration, but not completely sure...this butterflies and roses decoration of the rim is something I have seen, but not many times.
From the very detailed painting in the close-up image it seems to be of rather fine quality.
The crown-like head cover of the sitting male concerns me a bit though. There were never crowns used in the sense as in Europe. Although there have been some hair adornments of males looking similar. It is rather unusual.
I still think the previous one you showed me is still the best. That one is a standard decoration and of finest quality.
The bottom is old and there is no mark on the current items, I assume?

"I would like to know what represent the figures on the vase and plates." If you mean the stories behind the persons or scene displayed, I am afraid you will have to dive deeper into Chinese cultural heritage. The content of such decorations finds its roots mainly in events of Chinese history and novels.
