Bronze warrior head

by 007

This was obtained in China during the 80's. It is around half the size of a human head. It is not very heavy. I would like to know what you think of this piece?
Thanks again Peter

Hi G.
Just happened again on something like your bronze head and found its source.
If you don't know yet what it is, then do a Google image search for "Sanxingdui" (or "三星堆").
Apparently, this isn't known that long yet.

Bronzes are not my forte.
I have seen something similar as this before, but I have no idea what it is. It gives the impression as if it were older than the Han dynasty, but I am not sure if it is genuine or not.

Please be careful, there are lots of fake bronzes being sold. The reason that I do not touch bronzes is that metals are easy to fake, and the verdigris will cover any production traces. Bronze specialists know the different verdigris characteristics for different eras.
