Blue and White Chinese jar

by Ruud
(Hilversum, the Netherlands)

I have in my posession this Chinese jar with lid, blue and white, marked on the bottom.

Height (without lid): 18 cm, opening 16 cm wide, bottom 15 cm wide.

The colours of the lid are somwhat brighter than of the jar itself.

I would be very interested to know more about this jar, like its period, use and the seal. Thank you.

Thanks Peter for your comment. I have been doubting its origins also. I wonder whether it may be European, though the design and handles seem to indicate Chinese. I will send in another piece in my collection.

Hello,
I'm afraid this is a very easy to recognize fake antique.
In addition to the item itself the mark itself is also fake. Either it was written by a non-Chinese or someone who is illiterate. These are not proper Chinese characters.
