300 years old?

by Pam
(Las Vegas, NV)

Hi Peter, it looks like I came to the right place for an honest opinion. My boss gave me this vase and said it was a Chinese vase that was over 300 years old. It has no marks that I can see. Can I get your opinion? Thank you so much!

Just copy the code (characters) in between the quotation marks into the Google search field. That will do...

This could be early 19th century at the most. This type of decoration became popular in the Jiaqing reign. It was made at least until the 20th century (possibly still is). The tone of the blue indicates it is late Qing or republican period.
The bottom shows that it is old, but the quality work is lower than average.

If you do a Google image search for "喜字 花瓶" you will find lots if example of this type of item.
